About SAAM
A bridge for Sino-Austrian musical and cultural exchange
Founded in 2021, the Sino Austrian Association of Music (SAAM) is composed of political figures from China and Austria, internationally renowned artists and professional music practitioners. It serves as an important bridge connecting the two countries in music, arts and cultural exchange, and, through cultural cooperation, promotes broader multi‑faceted collaboration between China and Austria.The Sino Austrian Association of Music firmly implements the cultural guidelines and policies of the Communist Party of China, responding to President Xi Jinping’s calls to “enhance China’s cultural soft power and the influence of Chinese culture,” to “promote Chinese culture going global,” and to “advance exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.” SAAM is committed to contributing to the building of a culturally strong socialist country and to strengthening the communication and global influence of Chinese civilization.
Sino–Austrian Friendship
The People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Austria established diplomatic relations on 28 May 1971, and in 2018 the two countries elevated their ties to a friendly strategic partnership.China is Austria’s largest trading partner in Asia, and bilateral cooperation spans politics, economy and trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, science and technology and more, continuing to deepen over time. Austria has clearly reaffirmed its adherence to the One-China principle and, as a member of the European Union, actively works to promote China–EU relations while supporting China in multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations.
Austria is characterized by high social welfare, low unemployment and a strong industrial base, with one of the world’s leading GDP per capita levels, standing out among many long-established European powers. Its capital, Vienna, known as the “cradle of European classical music” and a world-renowned City of Music, is also a global leader in mechanical engineering, chemical industry and finance. Thanks to its advanced production technologies and strategic transport links, Austria is a key hub in Europe for pharmaceuticals and other high-value industries.
